How can I donate?
The easiest way to donate is through our PayPal link below. You can donate through this link with a PayPal account, Venmo account, or with a credit/debit card. Check donations can be mailed to the PO box listed below:
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. The Phil Wagner Foundation is an approved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Donations submitted through the online donate button above will provide you with an initial payment receipt. Donor receipts will be emailed (or by post) at the end of the calendar year for tax purposes from donations@philwagnerfoundation.org. This email address is not monitored and cannot receive emails. Should you have any issues or have not received a donor receipt by January 31 of the following year, you may contact us at help@philwagnerfoundation.org. All other inquiries, please visit our contact page here. No goods or services are provided in exchange for donations.
Can I donate anonymously?
If you are planning to donate through our PayPal link, the short answer is no, however, we do not publish a list of our donors online or anywhere to the public. If you wish to donate anonymously, you will have to seek assistance from a donor platform or service that handles this. There are a number of these available online. As an approved 501(c)(3) public charity, Internal Revenue Code requires us to maintain an internal record of all donor names and addresses. We may, from time to time, wish to share certain donations with the public through social media or this website, to recognize particular donors or business sponsors for their generous donation. We will always seek permission from a donor prior to any public sharing of their donation.
How will my donation be used?
Your donation will support our current mission statement and goals stated here.
More specifically, donations will be used to run the organization and provide financial assistance to the families of law enforcement officers who are killed in the line of duty throughout Ohio. Should the organization grow larger in size, we will look into expanding outward to neighboring states. The organization seeks to honor Phil's legacy by spreading his story and keeping his name alive.
The organization also plans to create a scholarship in Phil's name that will be open to all children of current or past law enforcement. When this becomes possible, additional resources will become available on our website with application instructions.
Last and certainly not least, the organization will also continue to provide for Phil's three children and his wife in various ways. After starting this organization, and much thanks to KeyBank®, we were able to provide Christmas presents to Phil's children, and will continue doing similar things each year for his family. The Board of Directors plan to hold various fundraisers and events each year to also help fund some of these goals.
As stated in the About the Foundation page, the Board of Directors and any members of the foundation are all completely voluntary. No position within the foundation is paid and all of our time is donated to the organization. 100% of all donations go towards the foundation.
